You Might Be Eligible for More Google Profiles

One location does not always mean one Google Business Profile.

Departamental Google Profiles

Most home service companies assume they get one Google Business Profile per location.

That is not always true.

If you have legitimate, customer-facing departments for roofing, HVAC, plumbing and electrical, some of those departments may qualify for their own profiles.

That could give you:

Roofing Department → Roofing searches
HVAC Department → Heating and cooling searches
Plumbing Department → Plumbing searches
Electrical Department → Electrician searches

Instead of asking one general profile to be everything to everyone, each eligible department gets its own primary category and its own chance to show up for the searches that matter most.

But do not abuse this.

Google specifically says the departments need to operate as distinct, public-facing entities. The exact department names must differ from the main business and from each other, and their most representative categories must also be different. Google says separate entrances are typical, and clear signage becomes especially important when multiple profiles share an address.

So this is not:

“Let’s create four fake profiles because we offer four services.”

It is:

“We actually operate four distinct departments. Are we taking advantage of every profile we legitimately qualify for?”

That distinction matters.

Because one properly structured additional profile can give you another opportunity to earn service-specific visibility, calls and reviews.

Most companies are trying to make one profile rank for everything.

Sometimes the better question is whether you should only have one profile in the first place.
