Two Types of Home Service Business & How To Market Them

Which type are you?

Nice To Have vs. Must Have

Welcome to the Home Service Marketer newsletter.

These are my own independent thoughts, and I am writing about topics that interest me. I hope you enjoy this journey of learning alongside me.

In today’s newsletter, we are going to cover:

  • Nice to have service business

  • Must have service business

  • The difference between the two

It is approximately a 4-minute read.

Whats the difference?

When it comes to marketing and acquiring customers for your home service business, you first need to understand what type of business you are.

Is your service a luxury? Is there a good visual presentation to your work?

Think of businesses like cleaning, painting, and remodeling.

What do they all have in common?

They are not a necessity.

In these businesses, you have to sell the dream.

The feeling of walking into your brand new modern kitchen, impressing guests with a fresh coat of paint, or the time saved by not having to get down and clean your floors

These are “nice to have” services.

So, what is a must-have service?

It is a service with extremely high search intent.

When you need this service, you need it now, and you will pay whatever the bill is to have it fixed.

If it’s summer in Florida and your AC breaks.. you won’t be waiting long to make a call.

The same goes for plumbing, HVAC, roofing, electricians, pest control.

By far the best marketing channel for must-have services is Google.

Extreme high search intent with high buying intent.

Google is your winner.

What about nice-to-have services?

You’ll have to wait for the next email.

Love you,

Andy
