Actionable Tip

What is it? Your digital real estate is your website. Your website is your 24/7 salesperson. This salesperson never takes a break and doesn’t sleep. He is your top money maker. Give him everything he needs to win.

Why does it matter? First impressions matter. Your website is most often the first point of contact for a new customer. Think about making a first impression on a girl you like. It's very important, right? Same scenario.

How do I fix it? Get off Wix, Squarespace, and those other junk website builders. There are only three options for winners: Code, WordPress, and Webflow. Don’t build it yourself. You know nothing about digital marketing. Let a professional marketer build it and let them do what is best.

Understand:

  1. You are not an internet marketer.

  2. It doesn’t matter what you think. It matters what works.

  3. Let the data drive your decisions.

Perceived Exertion & Cognitive Load:

A primary issue that I see across the board is business owners wanting a never-ending amount of form inputs for their contact forms. And yes, I understand why. The more information you collect, the better prepared you can be in your sales process, but you also need to understand that you will have fewer leads coming in. This has been rigorously tested. The more inputs, the higher the perceived exertion and cognitive load, which results in fewer submissions.

When customers have less cognitive load, it's easier for them to make positive buying decisions, which will lead to higher conversion rates and better business outcomes.

Across many clients' websites, we have two forms. A pop-up form with three inputs

  • Name

  • Phone

  • Message

The other form is the primary contact form, which often collects (by client request)

  • Name

  • Email

  • Phone

  • Address

  • Sq feet

  • Dropdown service selection

  • Message

Which form do you think converts at the highest rate?
