[NEW] Google Business Verification

The exact checklist Google uses to verify your business address

How to Pass Google Verification on Your First Try

Got another verification rejection from Google? You're not alone.

I get this question at least 3x a week: "Why does Google keep rejecting my business address?"

Here's the truth—Google's verification process isn't random. They're looking for three specific things, and if you're missing even one, you'll get rejected.

After helping 200+ businesses get verified, here's exactly what Google wants to see:

1. Permanent Signage (This is Non-Negotiable)

Whether you have a true storefront or an office within a building you need a sign with your business name on it exactly as it is listed on your Google Business Profile.

There can be no discrepancy here. The name on the sign must be the same as listed on your Google Business Profile and legal business documentation.

And to clarify further, this does not need to be an expensive fancy neon lit sign.

You can get verified with a cheap $100 sign you hang on the front door.

Every detail must align perfectly. You'll need:

Required:

  • LLC formation documents OR DBA (Doing Business As) certificate

Major bonus points:

  • Utility bill in your business name (electric, water, gas, internet)

  • Lease agreement showing your business as tenant

  • Business bank statement with the address

The name and address on these documents must match your Google Business Profile exactly. Even small differences like "St." vs "Street" can trigger rejection.

Example: If your GBP shows "Johnson Roofing LLC, 123 Main Street, Suite 100," your LLC documents better show the exact same thing—not "Johnson Roofing" or "123 Main St. #100."

3. Video Verification Walk-Through

Google will ask you to show your business is real and active.

What to show on camera:

  • Your office setup (desks, computers, work areas)

  • Business supplies and equipment specific to your industry

  • Your POS system, service vehicles, or tools

  • Any branded materials (business cards, invoices, uniforms)

Pro tip:

Do a practice run first. Walk through your space and make sure everything with your business name is visible. Google wants to see this is a real, working business, not just an empty room.
