I asked ChatGPT for a plumber in Tampa
It only gave me 3 names.
I typed "I need a plumber in Tampa" into ChatGPT.
It gave me 3 names. That's it. Three.
No Google. No Maps. No scrolling through ads. Just a direct question.
he way more and more of your customers are searching right now.
Then I pulled up Google Maps and searched "plumber in Tampa" to compare.
The top 3 in the Map Pack? They were the same companies ChatGPT recommended.
That's not a coincidence. The things that get you ranking in Google Maps are the same signals AI is using to decide who to recommend.
Which means if you're not showing up in the Map Pack right now, you're not just losing leads on Google. You're losing them on ChatGPT too.
And here's why that should scare you:
Google gives you a page of options. AI gives you THE answer.
When someone Googles "plumber in Tampa," they see 8-10 businesses on page one.
You've got a shot at being one of them.
When someone asks ChatGPT? It names 2 or 3.
That's it. You're either THE recommendation or you don't exist.
You can't buy your way in.
On Google, you can always run ads.
Open your wallet and you're at the top by tomorrow.
There's no ad product for AI search.
No pay-to-play. If ChatGPT doesn't already know about your business, money can't fix that.
ChatGPT has over 200 million weekly users. This isn't coming. It's here.
Go test it yourself right now. Open ChatGPT and type: "Who's the best [your trade] in [your city]?"
If you're not in the answer, your competitors might be.
And unlike Google where there's room for 10 companies on page one, AI only recommends 2 or 3.
The window to get in is right now.
Talk soon, Andy
P.S. Next week I'm breaking down the exact checklist we use to rank businesses on ChatGPT.
