What to do: First, identify the top three counties you want to target for your services and five locations within them.

Why do it: We are communicating to an algorithm geographically. We need to be very specific with how we communicate to it. The more information you provide about your target locations + service, the better you will perform.

How: How to do it

  1. Build a “Service Areas” Page and list the counties that you service.

  2. Create a page for each location + primary service within each county.

  3. Ensure that each page has content built specifically for that location.

Choosing Locations & Mapping Pages:

After selecting your counties you need to select 5 locations within each county. Eventually it will be more, but this is the perfect starting point. Start by selecting the high population areas or locations that you specifically want to target for your business.

Why are we doing this?

We are communicating the algorithm geographically. We need to communicate the areas you service and the services you provide so Google can accurately reflect that in the search results.

If you do not do this Google will not know and you will not populate for the location specific searches missing out on tons of website traffic and revenue for your business.

As the content gets built out on your site you want to become even more granular. I don’t care how small the population is or if it is a neighborhood within the location. There is someone there that needs your service and you want to win that business.
